Recommended workflows for Moderation

Usually before taking actions it’s recommended to do a quick lookup, first take a look at the general details like age, how long they’ve been verified and tickets. Then add the mode option to take a look at their Notes and Contacts to get a better picture of recent or past issues

    n2 -->|Medium| outMedium["Notice"]
    n2 -->|High| outHigh["Warning"]

Severity ratings define the baseline actions for different levels of infractions. If however an issue occurs multiple times see Actions section below. For example, if a person posts a picture of their face, the first time they will be noted and get their post deleted as per Severity Ratings, if that person later posts another picture with their face that is a repeated offense and as per Actions will result in a notice

The reference feature allows for the addition of notes to members and look them up later using Wypher Bot, anything weird or low severity should be noted. During an intro review if there is something weird it’s also recommended to note it so other mods can see it

All things user communication (dms), notices/warnings can be issued through here with additional options for quick actions alongside the message being sent. In log-woa, the log will show what actions are applied to a sent message. When writing a contact make sure to cite all the relevant rules that were broken and provide additional details to let the person know why they got contacted

Notices and warnings both fall under contacts, however they are counted as different levels of severity depending on the situation

If something may be confusing or you want the user to create a ticket add the ticket_button flag

Notices can be a quick reminder of the rules, a request to stop a certain behaviour or change it

Avoid doing verbal notices unless it’s to quickly calm a situation down with multiple people involved or in an active channel, for smaller issues involving 2-3 people write a specific notice for each participant

To make a contact a notice add the disclaimer flag which will include “This is not a warning” in the DM

Warnings are the standard contact option, they are essentially the same as a notice but do not include the disclaimer. Warnings are more strict and direct and used for high severity issues

Timeouts are given to repeat offenders, usually from 1-2 weeks depending on situation or longer if necessary. Timeouts can also be used after an extended period of unverification to slowly re-introduce a user to the chat

Unverification is the highest level of punishment and is only applied after the member is not able to change their behaviour even after multiple warnings, timeouts or notices. In some situations users may be able to appeal their unverification after a certain period depending on the situation but usually unverification is permenant and can be seen as a chat ban

The /forceticket and /contact commands both include an unverify flag which can quickly remove a member from chat in case they are causing more issues. Sometimes unverification can also be applied temporarily to stop someone from continuing a situation or while a case is ongoing

If you are unsure about if or how an issue fits into the action framework ask another mod for help/discussion, ideally you shouldn’t be executing actions which you are unsure about. If the issue requires immediate attention a safe option is to apply a timeout or temporary unverification
